3.0 Examinations
This section outlines the structure and responsibilities of officers involved in the conduct of examinations at the Polytechnic.
3.1 Examination Officers
Examinations shall be conducted by the following officers:
- Polytechnic Chief Examiner (Rector)
- Central Examination Officer (CEO)
- Assistant Central Examination Officer (ACEO)
- School Chief Examination Officer (SCEO – Deans)
- Departmental Examination Coordinators (DEC – Heads of Departments)
- School Examination Officer (SEO)
- Departmental Examination Officer (DEO)
- Internal Examiners (Course Tutors)
- Examination Coordinators (Senior Lecturers and above)
- Invigilators
- External Examiners/Moderators
3.2 Duties of Examination Officers
- Chief Examiner (Rector): Oversees the successful conduct of all examinations according to the academic calendar.
- CEO: Prepares timetables, coordinates invigilation, manages question papers and answer booklets, and reports to the Academic Board.
- ACEO: Assists the CEO in all duties.
- SCEO (Deans): Ensures exams are properly conducted in their school and presents results to the Academic Board.
- DEC (HODs): Coordinates departmental exams, ensures quality of questions, supervises marking and moderation, and submits results to the School Board.
- SEO: Assists CEO with venue arrangements, question paper packaging, and exam administration. Must be at least Lecturer I.
- DEO: Liaises with SEO and DEC, manages exam materials, distributes and collects scripts, and compiles departmental results.
- Internal Examiners: Prepare and submit two sets of questions with model answers, maintain secrecy, and publish continuous assessment scores before exams.
